I also learned that it is best to be prepared before going to a meeting. Even though everyone had suggestions, no one came up with prices for hotels, rental cars, flights, etc. so time during the meeting was spent researching such things to help weigh the pros and cons of each possible vacation adventure. I also learned from observing this discussion that active listening is an important part of managing a group discussion. When members feel understood and important, they are more likely to open up and actively participate in the group during the meeting and in the future.
