What is Wisdom?Introduction: Wisdom is generally considered to be a certain body of knowledge that has both a practical and theoretical aspect. This knowledge inevitably allows the person who possesses it to live a good life. Indeed, a wise person is both someone who knows the right things, knows how to implement them rationally and succeeds in doing so and thus living a good life. Thesis: I argue that wisdom is a mixture of practical knowledge and abstract knowledge where a person is able and successful in applying these ideas in a rational manner that results in a good life. Argument: To be truly wise, it seems clear that a person must know the universe and their place in it. In-depth knowledge is therefore necessary. However, they must also have in-depth knowledge of their own lives and therefore must be expert in the appropriate way to apply this knowledge and therefore know how to live well. Such a person's knowledge will also make him understand the inherent value of living well, and so he must desire it while knowing how to achieve it (Hursthouse 12). Someone who does not live well and is therefore virtuous certainly cannot be wise. As long as we don't assume that wisdom should be accessible to everyone, there is no problem. However, it should further be noted that the condition is that a wise person must possess deep theoretical knowledge. This says nothing about false beliefs. An ancient person, if he is truly wise, will have studied the world to such an extent that it must surely be true that he has a large number of true beliefs. The fact that they have, alongside these true beliefs, false beliefs due to the primitive era in which they live does not negate the vast theoretical knowledge that they still possess..
