I. INTRODUCTIONPeople are the key to business success. However, in today's business world this is often overlooked and human resources are considered a necessary expense. A successful business does not rely solely on the power of one person, rather it involves effective and continuous teamwork and communication. Storey (1995) defines that human resource management is an individual approach to employment management that seeks to achieve competitive advantage through the strategic deployment of a highly committed and competent workforce, using a set integrated cultural, structural and personal techniques.II. THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENTHuman resource management involves several practices such as recruitment/resourcing, administration, selection, performance and reward management, talent management, labor relations as well as training and development. Efficient and effective human resource management ensures the effective use of resources so that objectives can be achieved. The organization aiming to use its resources effectively invites the HR department to create the required goals and policies. It also helps in maintaining a proper organizational structure by defining the positions, rights, duties, responsibility and liability of each employee. Fapohunda (2012) states that human resource management is concerned with the development and successful operation of human resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. He also mentioned that it is the management task by which managers recruit, select, train and develop the members of the organization. In addition, human resources management provides a respectful and peaceful working environment to each employee.
