We are all confronted with articles and reports detailing crime that occurs all over the world, crime that affects all types of communities, crime linked to differences religion, gender and age, to name but a few. I have always paid close attention to the punishments meted out to criminals, during which I always seem to find myself debating whether those punishments were just or unjust. I am particularly interested in the criminal justice system and the different agencies involved. such as the Youth Justice Council and the Police Service. I am extremely keen to learn more about their goals and how they operate and work together, as well as their history. I aspire to become a social worker, working mainly with young offenders. After visiting the Youth Justice Board website for more information, I was particularly impressed by the programs set up to guide young people from deprived and anti-social neighborhoods.
