    First, I realized that it was possible to get 4 days of food on a limited allowance of $18.92 by cooking most of my meals. The variety and quantity of foods I could cook with was limited, but I didn't feel like I was starving throughout the experience. Second, I realized that it could be very boring to limit my food choices even for 4 days. Third, I felt that the budget might seem even more restrictive for a SNAP participant who decided to purchase meat because meat is quite expensive. If I bought meat, I would have had to reduce the variety of other foods like vegetables in order to cope with the high cost of meat.
