From a psychodynamic perspective, Lohan's addiction to drugs and alcohol dates back to childhood. Lohan had two parents, mother Dina Lohan and father Michael Lohan. Dina Lohan was a huge presence in Lindsay's young life and is still a part of her life today. Michael, on the other hand, was very absent. Although he was able to provide his family with a comfortable life through the sale of a profitable pasta company, he was very concerned about his position on Wall Street (Current Biography, 2005). Lohan faced "deep-rooted issues with her father", said a member of her inner heart...... middle of paper ...... takes to truly resolve her issues. She also doesn't have a very stable support group to keep her grounded, so she's at risk of falling because they don't help support her. She also might not want to leave the party scene, which could be a big struggle. She needs to be with people, which is in turn fulfilled by the party scene. It would be difficult for her to fill this need if she didn't go out. On the other hand, these treatments would be very effective if she actually participated in them. If she was truly committed to getting better and if she participated fully in therapy and stopped going into the areas that were driving her substance abuse problem, she would be fine in life. She may need ongoing therapy and support, but she will become the successful actress she has long wanted to be; and the community has wanted it to be so too for so long.
