To help people learn more about tobacco and smoking, there are advertisements advertising the effects of tobacco, as well as organizations aimed at helping people learn more about tobacco. If more advertisements were broadcast every day, more attention would be paid to the harmful effects of tobacco and smoking, due to the use of television around the world. Smoking can often lead to multiple heart diseases, and as a result of these diseases, a heart attack or stroke can develop (“Smoking and Health Problems”). Even though it's obvious that smoking isn't the best for a person's health, what do they really know? This problem is huge for many people. Even if someone doesn't smoke, being around someone who smokes can impact the health of non-smokers. Tobacco use can cause approximately eleven different types of cancer, including oral cancer, throat cancer, and leukemia (“Smoking and Health Problems”). “If you are a regular smoker, you are 250 times more likely to be killed by its effects before the age of 65 than to be murdered” (district 17). Almost instantly after inhaling cigarette smoke, the teeth are left with a film which then takes on a dull and dirty color. As opposed to a short-term effect, one of the never-ending repercussions of inhaling tobacco is the thick, dark tar it leaves in a person's lungs after each use of a cigarette (Beil). Overall, smoking is unhealthy and can cause many health problems. If a person knew all the effects of tobacco and smoking, they might change their mind and decide to take up the substance again on their next paper. Even if smoking isn't the best thing for you, How much do people care about knowing more about the effects of smoking? It is important to understand why tobacco and smoking are unhealthy and what effects they have on the human body. There are tobacco substitutes, but do these substitutions help the average smoker quit? If a law were passed, tobacco consumption would decrease and could potentially save many lives.
