When you think of Russia, you think of cold, communism and a huge empty space on earth that we have no idea why God put it there there. However, it is from this country that one of the greatest composers of all time, Peter Tchaikovsky, was born. We instantly associate his wild name with the great ballet The Nutcracker, but that's only part of the magnificent musical legacy he produced. Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in Vokinsk, Russia. His childhood and adolescence are not very well documented and the place where he acquired his first musical knowledge is a mystery to us. All we know is that he aspired to become a lawyer in school, but Mozart had different plans for him. Rising from the grave and through the phonograph with his Don Giovani, Mozart captivated young Peter and motivated him to devote his life solely to music. At the age of 23, he entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory where he became the first Russian to receive systematic training in the fundamentals of music, which he completed in three years.
