  • Essay / Reflection on my first lesson - 825

Mrs. Welle observed not only me, but also how the students paid attention to me and noted that they were very interested until the last five minutes or so. I barely had to re-address instructions to the class as I walked around and helped and every student managed to build their box within an hour. The real proof that they put it together correctly came when we unloaded the oven to find that everyone's parts were assembled correctly and none of them exploded in the oven. As I reflected on the demonstration, immediately after the students got to work, I realized what was really important to mention to them and what was not necessary at that moment. As I walked around, I realized how brilliant the students were and that, for most of them, my demo could have been simplified even more so they could spend even more time with the box. Either that or I could have used the extra 2 minutes to re-address the areas that most of the students had difficulty in, which turned out to create straight, smooth sides on their bodies.
