Essay / Common Sense Analysis by Thomas Paine - 1145
He argues that Americans have become greater as a country and will be able to oppose British rule. Furthermore, Paine states that the time has come for America to revolt against Britain, as the British are constantly going to war with Spain and France and using American soldiers to fight their battles. So instead of Americans waging war against another country, why wouldn't they represent their own country and fight for their independence? Paine also lets the American people know that they do not need Britain for trade. They can trade with other countries in Europe and do not have to depend on Great Britain. Paine encourages the Americans by telling them that if they do not revolt against the British, the king will continue to take advantage of them and they will continue to be poor and have no control over their power.
