    Racism comes from an individual who needs to maintain (albeit imaginary) a position of supremacy. A racist will use any means possible to subjugate the victim race. A racist feels no remorse or sympathy for the impact of his racist actions on his victims. The overall aura of all signs projects a racism of hatred and heartless sensitivities. SoR is not an impartial work of literature. Kapur gives us the perspective of someone suffering from subtle racism. Therefore, we see the views of the victim and not the racist expressed. This position is adopted by the majority of the world and is therefore easily accepted. (This could be an interesting concept for a book though - The Hate of the Bigot.) This bias does not alter his writing, however. On the contrary, the lifelong reality with which Kapur was familiar (hidden racism) supports his subjective reasoning. The description (or rather oblique explanation) of a racist was also highlighted in SoR - a racist is a racist regardless of "their religion, intelligence, cultural level, social status, benevolence towards members of their own race or social motivation. The stereotype of
