  • Essay / Reflection notebook of Cheikh Anta Diop - 979

It is thanks to the activities we have carried out, and especially to the people I have met, like Dr Cheikh Anta Diop, that I am able to broaden my horizons and maybe get a glimpse of what I've been missing. When a man who is African himself shows how he believes so strongly in his origins, it's hard not to start believing it yourself. Not only did he express his opinions, but he provided several studies and research results that can relate our evolution to Africa and prove his worth. With skulls of different species, they could tell what race the men belonged to and it even showed the development from the beginning towards a homosapien sapien. Since the fifth species out of six does not have much of a forehead, one could conclude that the brain would also be different; indeed, he was missing the anterior lobe of the brain. To me, it's just mind-blowing and it allowed me to be open to the idea that maybe there was evolution from one species to another. All in all, hearing Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop tell his story through a short text, or listening to him talk about his intelligence and his African discoveries, it is easy to say that I am constantly learning something new. When there is proper evidence to support possible theories, I find it much easier to reach a reasonable conclusion.
