Essay / The Effect of Commercials and Commercials on Television
Commercials and commercials have been an integral part of American history for many years. Since the invention of the newspaper, people in the United States and many other countries have been heavily influenced by advertising. These ingenious tools are used to make people want to buy a product or contribute in some way to the success of a product. In more modern history, advertising has been implemented on television and other mass media. Since many people watch television every day, it is the perfect tool for advertising. Additionally, advertisements must be interesting and engaging enough to truly capture the audience's interest. The Geico car insurance company understands this concept very well. This company literally has an entire arsenal of commercials that fit together in one way or another and make everyone who watches them laugh. One of the most recent advertisements designed by this company features old MacDonald and his spelling abilities. This particular advertisement uses many effective marketing strategies to try to convince people to buy their car insurance over a similar product. This unique ad fits perfectly into Geico's overall marketing strategy which relies heavily on releasing groups of iconic ads with lots of humor and witty banter. The Old MacDonald commercial is surprisingly entertaining. It begins in a room with an office worker and a female office worker on their lunch break. The man spots a well-placed Geico ad in a magazine. After spotting it, he reads the classic Geico slogan: "Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance." In response, the employee remarks that everyone knows... middle of paper ... a company that will save them money on car insurance. It’s a win every time for Geico and the customer. Regardless, commercials and commercials will still be very important to America and the world. People are easily influenced by the power of advertisements. As the old MacDonald Geico commercial shows, people's emotions can be affected by a short clip as easily as a thirty-minute television show. This fact goes a long way in creating the desire in an audience to purchase a particular product. It is even more effective when presented to the general public through modern technology, such as television and the Internet. Geico has a complete understanding of these concepts thanks to the Martin Agency. As long as Geico continues to innovate in advertising and bring fresh and entertaining ideas, it will thrive in the world of marketing..
