Arriving from Ireland to a new school in Massachusetts, Phoebe Prince is ready to start a new life and make new friends. However, everything does not always work in his favor. As soon as Prince starts dating the star football player, the threats start coming. The constant torment at school leaves her alone and depressed, and when she returns home, it never stops. She received endless text messages and the torment didn't stop there. Phoebe was constantly harassed on social networking sites, such as Facebook. High school is supposed to be the time of her life, but she only gets to experience one year of it because she relentlessly commits suicide. Cyberbullying is a problem that affects nearly half of American adolescents (NCPC 1). Adult authorities should adopt strict rules to protect vulnerable children from the effects of the modern threat of cyberbullying. Although technology has made it difficult to identify the real perpetrator, the expansion of technology over the years has recently made cyberbullying a more significant factor. From Myspace to Facebook to Formspring to Twitter, cyberbullying spans the entire Internet and won't stop for anything. The rise of networking sites, personal web pages and blogs full of details of teenage antics and angst has helped create a climate favorable to cyber-mutilation: locker room photos taken with cell phones and broadcast on Internet, fake profiles created on social networks. -networking sites, salacious rumors spread in chat rooms, threats spread across the city in instant messages (Billitteri 4).
