  • Essay / Society's interaction with technology while burning Chrome...

There are many great books based on the growing relationship between technology and human beings. Today, technology continually changes and evolves, along with how people adapt to these technological advancements. Technology has completely changed the way we live, it has linked itself to our humanity, being able to replace limbs and organs that we once thought impossible to replace. One of the most significant changes brought about by technology is the way members of society interact with each other. A story written by William Gibson called “Burning Chrome” illustrates precisely this idea. In his text, Gibson presents that the reader lives in a world where there are no boundaries or limitations between technology and humans. They are now part of each other and have evolved side by side into a society in which a person can transform their conscious mind into data and upload it to a non-physical virtual world. In this research paper, I will explain how the culture and interactions of our society have changed and adapted to advances in technology over the years. The most important thing when interacting with other human beings is being able to communicate with each other. The first mechanical means of human communication occurred with the invention of the telegraph, which initially ran on gas. It wasn't until 1836, when Samuel FB Morse, Alfred Vail, and Joseph Henry invented Morse code that our civilization was capable of electronic communication. Soon after, Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone, which allowed people to converse by voice and electronically from miles away. The invention of the telephone was later modified and eventually made into a cell phone by Martin Cooper middle of paper...... information and do with it what they want. In conclusion, technology has evolved and significantly influenced our society when it comes to human interaction. Burning Chrome by William Gibson is a postmodernist/cyberpunk story that blurs the lines of what it is to be human. The story also blurs the line between the physical and the virtual with which a human being interacts. The advances we have made with our technology have gotten to the point where it is closely related to human anatomy. Gibson's novel was partly based on the way our civilization becomes increasingly associated with technology. Gibson also described how a person's mind is transferred to a whole new world through the use of our modern devices. Ultimately, our society's interaction with machines and humans results in the furuturistic virtual world that Burning Chrome describes in its text..
