I was born in New Jersey, and at the age of six I experienced my first trip out of the country to the Ivory Coast, where my mother and I moved and lived for five years. After that, I was stuck between my two home countries, the United States and Ivory Coast, not sure what to expect for my future. I have no memory of my life before the age of six. In my eyes, my life began at the age of six and Ivory Coast has always been my first home. Just as I had learned to adapt a little and get used to the change in customs and culture in Ivory Coast, my mother unexpectedly told me that I was returning to the United States. It was 2006, I had just finished 6th grade and was looking forward to college, it was bittersweet, part of me wanted to stay because I had made a life for myself and the other part of me wanted to see my father and my brothers and find out where I had spent the first years of my life. So there I was in a new country, having to learn a new language, make new friends, and adapt to the country as a whole. Unfortunately it didn't last long, about a year later in 2007 my parents decided to take not only me this time but also my 2 older brothers.
