  • Essay / Analysis of Robert Frost's poem Stopping by the Woods...

    'Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening' is considered a masterpiece since it was written in 1922 and published a year later. This poem certainly represents Frost's expertise in providing us with powerful hidden meanings, which also challenge us to discover his true intentions behind the main theme. This criticism will be based on several aspects which deserve to be discussed: Contrast between the concepts, the symbols, the atmospheres, the author's purpose, the context of the poem. Additionally, it will state my personal opinion and feelings based on my understanding and interpretation of Frost's artwork. Structurally, this poem is composed of four (almost) identical stanzas. I think the simplicity of the poem itself demonstrates Frost's true ability to create such a modest masterpiece that contains unique emotions that go beyond paper. Even though this poem is very short and flowing, it takes more time to analyze it than to read it.
