  • Essay / The Sabbath - 867

The SabbathThe Sabbath has been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. This has been practiced by the Jews on the sixth day of the week, Saturday, since the days of Jesus' life and is the reason why you will not see many Jews on the Sabbath, like Jesus and God l 'explained, it's the day of rest. Even though God rested on the seventh day (Genesis, chapter 1-2) and not the sixth, since it is Sunday in our calendar, but to explain this, the Jewish week begins with Sunday, therefore the Saturday is, after all, the last day of their week. The Sabbath in Jewish means rest. , so the Jews followed God's example and rested from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Jews believe that the Sabbath is a day set aside for God to worship and rest. It is celebrated at home with a special family meal on Friday evening, then we go to the synagogue and pray. Unnecessary work is greatly avoided as are the 39 other rules that the Jews set to make the Sabbath a day of rest and to enforce these rules. There are also the 10 commandments to make the Sabbath a very strict practice known throughout the world. The Pharisees were these powerful preachers who spread and taught the Jewish religion with their own modified points, which often ended up giving them more control and power. The Pharisees gave completely opposite teachings and knowledge of the Sabbath. They were taking the Jews in the wrong direction. The Sabbath rules were very extravagant: no Jew was allowed to do any work or work-related hobbies, nothing. If you were caught doing work on the Sabbath, you would be punished and sometimes even judged....... middle of paper ...... some Christians do not celebrate Holy Communion because they think it is more important to love their neighbor and loving Christ instead of receiving his body and blood, so they just pray and worship him without Holy Communion, because as you can see in Mark chapter 12 verse 28-34, Jesus explains to a teacher of the law that the most important commandment is to love God. with all your heart, love God with all your soul and love God with all your mind, love God with all your strength. While the second most important commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. This shows that the main thing God cares about is love for your neighbor and love for him, which will secure your place in heaven, as all Christians go to church, worship God, love your neighbors and you will be accepted into the kingdom of God.
