News is less about reporting the facts and more about telling people what their opinions should be. Many people already have their own well-established opinions and connect to networks that support their opinions. This prevents them from learning and becoming universally aware of other points of view. The influence of media on society allows large corporations to convey their own preconceived opinions and values ​​to the public. A democratic society is made up of citizens who actively participate in political and civic life. Consumers are less and less aware of their duties as citizens and do not use their own opinions but those of former companies which influence them through the media. Under the Bush administration, the media began to present the idea of ​​the Iraq War as a fight for freedom and underestimated the agenda of stabilizing an oil patch. The public swallowed the media agenda by selling the war without fully understanding all aspects of the decision.
