This has really been a strength in my work as a resident assistant. I am responsible for helping 52 first-year students gain a broader perspective of the world we live in. Like me, many of my residents came to college with helicopter parents and conservative beliefs. When I started the semester, I was afraid to respond to some of the comments I was hearing from my residents; however, I knew it was necessary to address it through intentional conversations, bulletin boards, and programs.
