In this article I will analyze and comment on an article written by James Hunter. My starting point will be a summary of the text I have worked on. Next, I will contextualize the topic which is “Small Talk”. Then, I will analyze different issues raised in the text in which I will propose proposals to resolve the problems raised. Finally, I will reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of certain points in this article by modifying certain aspects of the author's proposal. SUMMARY The author of this article takes a clear and insightful position on this educational issue and follows the instructions specific by presenting the reasons to support this position. The article convincingly argues that corrective feedback can make learners reluctant to speak, but is necessary to develop fluency, accuracy, and complexity. We must develop real oral expression skills in our students. However, we can find problems that have developed due to the use of methodologies with very limited linguistic resources such as, for example, CTL (Communicative Language Teaching) because they are not based on teaching and real content. In fact, we need to use more creative speech and thinking, not less. In other examples, the article shows how “chatter” helps connect ideas that might never have been connected, pushing students to think in new ways. This method opens up avenues of reflection previously closed to oral expression. With increased interdisciplinary interactions, we should use this method to make speech more connected to the real world. However, Hunter offers “small talk” as a methodology that develops fluency and precision of language allowing the teacher ...... middle of paper ......k. By putting this into practice, we managed to work on all skills, involving them in a research and information process linked to real life. The challenge of the activity will always depend on the knowledge level of the students and the teacher will always be responsible for guiding the knowledge of their students. CONCLUSIONExamining all the different angles and factors involved in improving speaking proficiency will help us says that we must learn the original meaning of a message to enable us to better communicate with others. Although the proposal highlights a possibility, more information and more options are needed to improve speaking skills and the best way to do this is to practice as much as possible. -Language teaching based on foreign language contexts: research and implementation
