Essay / The Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israeli-Arab conflict...
For more than 75 years, there have been tensions between the Palestinian and Arab people. The hatred between Palestinians and Arabs dates back to the Arabs' refusal to reach a fair deal with the Jewish people on Palestinian land. Since 2000, there has been a series of acts of violence between Arabs and Palestinians that have cost more than 3,000 lives (Barak 719). Shortly after all the lives were lost, a peace process began in 1993. Between 1993 and 2000 was the period when serious peace talks began in earnest between the Arabs and Palestinians. The Oslo Process was established to bring the two sides together to end the conflict. At that time, the Oslo process created expectations about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the idea of peacemaking and the specific role of other surrounding nations (Barak 720). The Arab-Israeli conflict is the result of growing tensions for more than 75 years between Palestinians and Israelis; and can be resolved through discussions between Arabs and Israelis, peace agreements throughout the State of Israel, and the involvement of the appropriate parties for the ideal peace process to occur. There were times when both sides of the conflict missed opportunities. As neither side wanted to enter into negotiations, there could be no settlement between them. Small compromises between the two s...... middle of paper ......d stability throughout the region. For there to be peace and stability throughout the region, Jordanians and Palestinians must have a new mindset and work towards a peace process while working together on new foundations. Much of the conflict was due to the stubbornness of the various parties and their refusal to compromise on peace and stability in the wider region. For the Arab-Israeli conflict to be resolved, many steps must be taken, starting with Israel. Israel must first make peace with its enemies, as most of them are found throughout the Middle East. The triangular conflict must be transformed into a triangle of cooperation and will be peaceful if the nations guide them in the right direction towards peace. President Obama has pushed the Arabs to do more in the peace process, and if they put effort into the peace process negotiations, the conflict will be resolved..
