Essay / ferguson - 1511
Sir Alex Ferguson's interest in the Civil War is an interesting window into his personality. You can often tell something about a person, based on the books they read, the movies they watch, and the places they go. Sir Alex mentioned his interest in reading the biographies of influential people and leaders in their field, which are often reflected in his actions. There are also traces of his father in Ferguson's personality, particularly when it comes to training and teaching his players. Overall, it's fascinating to see how Ferguson's life experiences and mentors have shaped his management style, and more so, that of Manchester United. Ferguson's management style can often be described as leading an army during the American Civil War where he serves as commander, while the players are his warriors. He had created a promotional strategy of advancing players through their ranks as they prepared, while creating an environment in which players had trust and respect between themselves and their leader. Commanders tend to take an independent, direct, and ruthless approach to training and development. There is no room for the weak and only the strong succeed, which is also reflected in the team structure Ferguson created in Manchester. His decision to train players under his wing was the result of his successes on the battlefields described in history books. Like a military environment, Ferguson chose this path rather than a loving, more relaxed environment for his players. Although it may seem harsh, there was a goal and it had to be achieved no matter what. This determination, along with education and respect, which was influenced by other biographies he read, was the backbone of Manchester's success. Loy...... middle of paper ...... the goal of such a leader is malicious, however, if the goal is to improve the country, community or a team, a strict motivator can be of crucial importance. A bad example would be Mao Zedong and Stalin, who were the most powerful people of their time. Their vision had led to the deaths of millions of people without bringing anything concrete or beneficial. On the contrary, Vladimir Putin, often seen as a contemporary dictator with questionable goals, is an astonishing example of what a powerful leader can create. Although many might blame him, the Sochi Winter Olympics were beyond anyone's imagination and were a slap in the face to the majority who doubted the success and even completion of the Olympics. Like Putin, Ferguson chose to create a legend from Manchester United and achieved it thanks to his determination and a long commitment of twenty-six years..
