Children are influenced by their upbringing. Their actions turn towards their parents who are blamed for not giving them proper advice. There are parents who allow their children to make decisions on their own and do not become a good support system for the child. Children are not legally responsible for themselves until they turn eighteen. It is the parents who have the authority; therefore, children may have an emotional contribution, but it depends on the parent. What is obesity? This is an excessively high amount of body fat relative to lean body mass. We have been fighting for years to change the way people eat, so that they do not gain weight. Parents manipulate their children into believing that food can cure all their problems. Food has become an addiction in which parents teach their child to rely on food for comfort and harm their well-being. Children are said to have unhealthy eating habits; as well as poor exercise skills. A child's guardian plays a negative role in persuading a young and naive individual that big is "good." Obesity is a form of child abuse and parents must be held accountable. This should be socially unacceptable because obese children are treated unfairly, it makes the child psychologically unstable and the child must make the right health choices or else they will suffer later. negative health conditions Rebecca Puhl addresses the issue that "obesity is highly stigmatized in our society and overweight people are vulnerable to negative bias, prejudice and discrimination in many different contexts, including the workplace …and even in interpersonal relationships.” Young children are exposed to people's negative attitudes towards their obesity.
