A single book can cost around a hundred dollars and if you have to buy five books, that's five hundred dollars just for the books. For biology students, a biology book can sometimes cost between two and three hundred dollars. Colleges also charge fees to their students. Some examples of fees charged by Lourdes University are a technology fee of seventy-five dollars, a health services fee of seventy-five dollars, and a laboratory fee of seventy dollars for biology students, the all per semester. The author of “College May Cost More Than You Think” writes: “Once your students have been accepted and are about to head off to school, you will receive your first tuition bill. The outcome of that statement may have shocked you, but at least you thought you knew what was in store for you. But don’t put your checkbook away just yet” (1). This quote tells the truth: You think your tuition bill is going to be this amount, but a curveball is thrown and your tuition bill actually is. Although students must work while studying to pay for tuition, they should not do so. Working while studying can harm your education. MarketWatch's Quentin Fottrell (2013) states that "nearly four in five U.S. students...work while in school, according to a survey by Citigroup and Seventeen magazine, the average working student spends 19 hours per week while studying studies.
