    When I first found out that I had been allowed to do an internship abroad in Italy, I was very excited and I couldn't wait to tell my family and friends about it. But a few days later, I realized that I was going to travel alone to a country where I didn't know anyone. Not to mention the fact that I was already afraid of planes. But after discussing it with my mother, I realized that not everyone has the chance to live in another country and gain the experience of working abroad. I remember the moment I found out I'd been accepted to Salisbury and how scared I was about moving alone to a town where I didn't know anyone. I took the opportunity and moved in with three strangers who I now call friends. Taking a risk paid off big time and I knew that taking a bigger risk in a foreign country had the chance to pay off even more. Throughout my classes at Salisbury, I slowly learned that taking risks in my projects and papers seemed to work better than playing it safe. I also learned to be more independent in life and in my classes. I felt more comfortable raising my hand and sharing my opinions, something I had rarely felt confident enough to do in high school and community college.
