    According to the Bessie's Story case, Bessie was an 80-year-old black woman who faced many issues related to older African Americans. His physical health recently began to deteriorate and his arthritis progressed. She suffered several losses among her family and friends, causing emotional feelings of sadness and despair. Her husband of 59 years died 2 years ago. Bessie attends services at the Baptist church every Sunday and prayer meetings once a week. She frequently walks, more slowly now, in her neighborhood and works in her garden. Bessie, typical of many older black women, requires health promotion activities to maintain her quality of life. Additionally, in Bessie's own words: My life isn't as good as it used to be. It's more difficult now. The Tuskegee study of untreated syphilis in the black male population was studied to improve the health of poor African Americans. Men were recruited for this study and were promised free medical exams, blood tests and medication. Bessie didn't like going to the doctor, however, she really wouldn't seek health care knowing the circumstances of this case. Trusting healthcare providers would be his biggest problem. Not being able to communicate and understand a patient, as a caregiver, would also make me want to go to the doctor. Annette Dula suggests that the need for dialogue with African Americans be recognized as a serious bioethical problem. I would suggest that healthcare providers experience a different dialogue to better understand their patients. I agree with the three health disparities: institutional racism, economic equality, and behavioral barriers to using language signs so staff can identify their language preferences to obtain appropriate language services.
