The interviews lasted approximately less than an hour and refusing voice recording due to the sensitivity of the subject, the researcher opted for notes. Subject #1: Martina EnriquezAge: 17 years oldQuestion #1 and answer: How did you experience the moment when puberty begins? Have you asked others for help? Just like a normal teenager, Martina's puberty begins around the age of 12. Surrounded by many women, Martina should have less confusion about the start of puberty. However, growing up in a Latinx community where gender roles are defined, she said it was difficult to deal with the changes in her young body. She shares, “It wasn’t easy for me; When I was younger, I was a bit of a tomboy so the physical changes were quite strange to me. I was so hesitant to talk about it, even to my mother. I actually lived in a community full of women and we bonded closely, but there is this feeling that anything physical or sexual seems to be taboo. Martine adds that her carefree personality is a little affected, especially during her first period. She recalls: “There were so many things I wasn't allowed to do, like cycling or just running. It's like even my grandmother told me that physical activities aren't too feminine. » Question #2 and answer: How do you manage your sexual identity? Are you comfortable with this? Finally, I would consider the experience I had interviewing two young people educational, entertaining and informative – and I really respect and admire the fact that they allow me to share personal and sensitive topics such as their sexuality. It was from them that I learned that every young person may have different needs and experiences and that young people must be given the correct knowledge about sexuality during the period when they seem to be most in difficulty: adolescence..
