    From the fifth to fifth centuries, Western Europe went through a period called the Age of Faith, also known as of the “Dark Ages”. The Church wanted more power and authority, which meant some changes. Not only the internal structure of the Church has changed, but also the external structure. Thus, the Age of Faith was simulated and encouraged battles and adventures. This era was influenced by many factors, such as Church Reform, Church Reconstruction, and the Crusades. The fundamentals needed to be returned to the Church, as many problems still remained to be resolved. Priests were marrying and starting families, which went against the verdicts of the Church. The act of simony, the selling and buying of positions in the church, was a widespread practice. The last major problem was that of kings appointing bishops, when only the Church had the capacity to do so. All these complications lead to the reform of the Church. Now laws prohibiting priestly marriages and simony were enforced by the head of the Church, the Pope. The Church was composed like a kingdom, with the pope as head, and the Papal Curia as pope....
