    I first considered a career in public health during my internship at the Family Health Department of the Ghana Health Service as an undergraduate cycle. By participating in national meetings focused on strategies to reduce maternal mortality in Ghana, I recognized that, to create lasting progress, it is crucial to address the underlying social inequalities that exacerbate the adverse effects on health. To achieve this goal, I am seeking admission to the PhD program in Global Health and Population at the Harvard School of Public Health. I began studying the relationship between social factors and health as a research assistant at the Sleep Disorders Center at the University of Michigan. During my five-year tenure there, I facilitated projects that primarily studied the relationship between maternal sleep quality and maternal and perinatal outcomes.
