  • Essay / The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time by Mark...

The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time is about a young boy with Asperger's Syndrome named Christopher. Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder considered to be at the "high functioning" end of the spectrum. Affected children and adults have difficulty in social interactions and exhibit a restricted range of interests and repetitive behaviors. Christopher found a dead black poodle with a pitchfork in it. This made him very upset and he wanted to know who killed Wellington, so he investigated so he could have the killer arrested, but in a twist, Christopher found out that it was his father who killed Wellington. Christopher was very scared and angry at his father because he killed Wellington and lied about his mother dying of a heart attack when in reality she left Christopher and Ed for another man and moved away in London. Christopher didn't like Lier's. Christopher packed his bags and ran away from his father while he was at work and decided to go live with his mother. Christopher found the letters she wrote to him and the address was on the letters. Personally, I think Christopher should forgive his father even though he lied to him about something very important and killed Wellington. I think this because Ed is a very patient and understanding father to Christopher and no matter what happened, he was still a very good father to Christopher. Additionally, Judy, Christopher's mother, had left Christopher for another man and because she couldn't handle Christopher and didn't know how to be a mother to him. I think Christopher is better off with Ed because Judy's boyfriend Roger didn't even want Christopher to live with them and was very mean to Christopher. Christopher was also afraid of Roger...... middle of paper ...... even though he was afraid of his father at the time, his father wanted him and loved him and Chris would eventually forgive him but I think Roger would continue to be mean to Chris. Ultimately I think every little boy should be raised by his father and Chris should forgive him and give him another chance because Ed truly loves Chris and is working hard for him. Chris to forgive him. Ed killed the dog out of pain, jealousy and anger because it was Roger's dog and Judy left Ed for Roger. We all do stupid things when we are heartbroken and angry. And no matter what Ed did, his mother always left him behind without saying goodbye and told him herself in the letter that maybe if he was different, she could be a better mother for him so he is better off with his father who will never leave him and wants to fight for Chris to come home.
