Personal Information and Extracurricular ActivitiesI am good at many fields and have been involved in various types of extracurricular activities. I love singing and have been part of a choir since third grade. I am now in a special choir class at Zhongshan Girls' High School in Taipei Municipality and our choir has won many awards in different competitions. Besides music, I have also been good at sports since elementary school, when I participated in many running events and city-wide competitions. Outside of school activities, I was a dancer for over ten years until I decided to focus on preparing for the basic exam to enter high school. I have tried different activities in various fields, which cultivates my ability to learn quickly and my ambition to aim high. Apart from that, perseverance is one of my characteristics. For example, I always pay attention to the process before embarking on an experiment. If I find something unusual, I'm so willing to spend time thinking and discussing with my friends until I get a reasonable result. I always want to be an international student because I believe that learning in a different environment will offer me a chance to explore the world. In order to become one, I prepared myself for this next challenge. Long years of study and attention to schoolwork made me wonder if it was worth spending so much time on textbooks and I became curious about what it means to study in a other country. In 2011, I took the opportunity offered by my high school and became an exchange student in the United States. At the beginning, I didn't fit in perfectly, but throughout my exchange year, I learned to adapt to the environment of my studies and to study myself with and among the best. I believe this can maximize my potential and I will do everything possible to thrive at such a competitive university. Another reason why I applied to HKU is that there are a variety of public lectures for students. I would really like to be there to attend the conferences. The lecture on life and medicine given by Professor Peter J Sadler is the one that attracts me the most. Additionally, the University of Hong Kong encourages students to combine science with work or volunteering and teaches them to care for the world. I think this is an important lesson for students to learn. With all the reasons mentioned above, I think University of Hong Kong is my best choice. With a strong desire to achieve my goal, I will do my best at the University of Hong Kong, in order to make the most of my knowledge. my knowledge to contribute to society.
