Since I was a child, I always knew I wanted to become a doctor, but I didn't know what kind of doctor I wanted to become. Did I want to become a doctor to make a lot of money and live a prosperous life, to be respected in society, or to simply be able to help others? The answer came to me not long ago, when I was volunteering at Richardson Methodist Hospital. During my time in the children's room, reading books with these children or even just talking to them, I felt a sense of fulfillment. Seeing these children with life-threatening illnesses, like cancer, smiling happily as if nothing had happened, living their lives as if they were not stuck in hospital beds made me love them and their positive attitude. Working with these kids helped me realize that everything I did in life would be focused on kids like them. The volunteer work I engaged in at this hospital helped me realize the career field I wanted to get into and also taught me how important it is to keep new generations to come healthy and how there is a huge risk factor that would endanger health. of children is childhood obesity.
