  • Essay / Wilderness Case Study - 1822

Wilderness not only harms global warming, it also kills humans. James Hansen says global warming and climate change are caused by businesses consuming oil, gas, coal and fossil fuels. These big companies will create a storm cloud that will contaminate our greenhouse and cause global warming. Furthermore, they say that man is causing global warming because of his American dream. People often need to transport those most carbon-emitting cars and own those carbon-intensive homes. Companies focus on their own profit and growth while producing their dirty products that contaminate global warming. Global warming is caused by us, the people. This implies a systemic capitalist unleashing, as corporations put profit and power before people and the environment. Politicians are also part of it because they refuse to tax fossil fuels on the companies that use them. Another reason why global warming is caused by wilderness is that we are harming our environment. These luxuries that we want to carry with us are actually harming our environment and causing these climate changes. It is not only about fighting global warming, but also against future generations. America is all about “me” and “mine,” which leads us to desperately want “stuff” that makes us all complicit in the savagery against our planet and climate change. We focus on ourselves and fail to see how it harms us.
