Essay / Essay on Violence in Mass Media - 1809
Violence in Mass MediaViolence is everywhere and in everything, from what we see to what we hear. Today's society is familiar with violence in video games, TV shows, movies and music since it is everywhere, but many have become too attached to this violence and have transposed it in real life. Many assume that getting rid of this violence is essential for a more passive and peaceful society, but the portal of violence that society sees today has more advantages and one of the most targeted of the four is that of games video, even if they have a malicious past. One of the key things people assume is why kids in this society are more violent is video games, but they started out, like all things, as a harmless activity for fun. The first video game was Pong and it was considered a fun game for everyone, then the Dungeons and Dragons game, which had an actual text and story, etc. and after one of the most famous games, Legend of Zelda, games started to become more action-packed and violent. All games after Legend of Zelda started to become more violent, with longer stories and better graphics in the 1980s, but when they came to the 1990s, games started to become more 3D and more realistic . People worry that because they're getting more and more realistic every year, when people play them, they'll be so lost in the violence and history that it'll drag them into real life, like the Newtown shooter , who said he used Call of Duty: Black. Ops 2 video game to practice before filming. Video games have changed a lot from the past and are more immersive and graphically superior than ever and because of this, people only see the bad things that could come from them, like those who went too far. Many believe that someone... ... middle of paper ...... shows that match the age of viewers. What's interesting is that if the show on any network except the licensed ones shows a little too much cleavage or slips in a swear word and that show can be canceled even if it's the most popular show on television, which is weird in some cases. shows like The Walking Dead they have so much blood and violence but they don't use a single swear word or any form of sexual nature and it's a show about the end of the world where people might go crazy and swear and do whatever they want. It is just ridiculous that they are so against language and sex that they can protect children from what they see, but have no restrictions on the violence they display that could easily mentally scar a child for life, even if the violence reinforces the child's drama or story. a show that keeps people sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens.
