Essay / Methamphetamines: Poor Man's Cocaine - 1482
Meth addiction is becoming an epidemic in California. Addiction can be described as a condition in which the body forms a physical or psychological habit/dependence towards anything and is unstoppable. Drug addicts develop tolerance by becoming immune to the amount of drug they consume, leading them to increase the dose to achieve the same effect. Methamphetamine is a Type II stimulant, meaning it is highly addictive. It causes physical changes similar to the fight or flight response: it increases heart rate, breathing, blood pressure and body temperature. It lasts a long time and contaminates dopaminergic nerve endings in the central nervous system. It is a white, sour-tasting powder used orally, snorted or injected and smoked. Meth has no sympathy for anyone and does not discriminate. Allowing it into your life will ruin your relationships, your health, and your self-esteem. Many factors play a role in drug use and addiction. A parent with an addiction problem makes you more vulnerable to following in their footsteps. Genetically, you can inherit a 50 percent dependency. There are many people who have health issues and by nature we are hospitalized and want our pain to be relieved and relieved quickly, which leads some people to turn to illegal drugs like methamphetamine. Methamphetamine is also used to avoid feelings, memories, and situations like child abuse. Personality can also be a cause of addiction. If a person is curious, aggressive, lacks confidence, or lacks self-esteem, it may seem easier to turn to a drug that can help them feel better. Most of the time, this is not enough and they tend to consume more just to feel “normal”. ...... middle of paper ....... "Meth Videos - Escape Meth - The "Altered" Film Series - How to Get Help."
