  • Essay / Dear Mr Clarkson - 748

I recently read your article “Stuff the Tiger-long live extinction”, published on June 10, 2007 by the Sunday Times. The arguments you put forward seem too harsh or unrealistic in my opinion. This is why I am writing this letter to help you understand that there are different opinions on this topic and that I am writing against your point of view. Did you know that in the 20th century, the tiger population was reduced from 100,000 to 3,500 individuals? This means that 97 percent of the world's tiger population has been killed. For example, in Vietnam, there are unfortunately only around forty tigers left. In your first point you say that if we stop people in Asia from killing tigers it means they will lose their income, starve and die. You are right that taking a person's income means they will struggle to live. However, if we focus our attention on helping and educating them, they will find other ways to make money, such as farming and not killing endangered animals. Then we will save the tigers and help the locals, which will also benefit their community as well as them alone. By educating people, we can also protect the environment and prevent animal cruelty, which is also a major problem in our world. Then you then say, "Except for a few helpless middle-class Chinese, or you want a nice rug, it doesn't make the slightest difference if Johnny Tiger dies." Although it will make an emotional difference to animal lovers and conservationists. Wouldn't it also be a shame to lose the largest feline species? And also why would you want to get rid of a beautiful creature? Not to mention that killing the popular bread of animals and causing their extinction can harm tourism, which is what is happening in Brunei with the killing of...... middle of paper ...... conclude my letter by saying that animals are just animals. as important as humans, because without them we would really be stuck, and a lot of the work and work around the world wouldn't get done and the food wouldn't be as good, nor would we have as good food and therefore the human species would suffer in several ways. Furthermore, if there is anything that can be done to prevent the extinction of the tiger, we should now act and prevent the extinction of all animals. Additionally, you should change your tone of voice and make it more positive about how you think about animals and extinction and you should be less selfish and care more about the environment. Otherwise, you will suffer, as will the majority of people. Finally, we shouldn't just step back and say goodbye to the tiger when we can do something about it and prevent the extinction of a well-known animal..
