Current attention to assessment in education raises concerns about the appropriate and inappropriate practices used by teachers in instructional design. Many teachers face ethical conflicts regarding the assessment and design of instructional materials for their students. This article focuses on defining ethical behavior and examining educators' ethical judgments in relation to assessment. According to the (2008) study, Educational Leaders' Perceptions of Ethical Student Assessment Practices, "little is known about educators' perceptions of the ethics of student assessment practices." This study was an online survey designed to examine the extent to which administrators agree on ethical practices in student assessment (p. 520). The most inappropriate use of test prep involved high-stakes testing and testing for special populations.
