  • Essay / The Endocrine System - 1548

In the human body we have a system that manages chemical communication through the use of hormones, the ductless glands that secrete the hormones and the target cells that respond to the hormones, this system is called the Endocrine System. This is used to help maintain the essential purpose of the human body, which can direct metabolism towards growth. This system also works in synergy with the nervous system to regulate internal functions and maintain homeostasis as well as long-term behavior. There are many hormones in the human body that can affect attitude and behavior. A very common behavior throughout the human lifespan, which is greatly affected by hormones, is sexual behavior. There are a range of hormones created by the gonads and placenta that affect this behavior. These can be classified into two different categories for men and women, male hormones are known as androgens, which contain testosterone which allows the progression of the male reproductive area and its preservation, also provides secondary characteristics and behavior. Female hormones are known as estrogens, such as estradiol, which function in the enhancement and preservation of the female reproductive area, allowing the growth of other sexual characteristics, as well as behavioral changes and reproduction of the mammary glands. However, both men and women produce both types of hormones and both have strong effects, but men produce more androgens and women produce more estrogens. Much attention has been paid to the link between behavior and hormones and this shows that the normal difference in the amount of hormones presented is linked to the difference in behavior. A case of this may be...... middle of paper ...... it affects female hormones as this has been considered controversial. So we have to assume that hormones affect the behavior of all humans, even though research is being done on male hormones. Although it is still known that when a woman goes through her menstrual cycle it affects her behavior and mood, there is still no clear research on the hormones that affect this change. On the other hand, women still have some testosterone hormone in their system, which could still affect their behavior even if they don't have a large amount of testosterone, but this has yet to happen due to complications . . Overall, we can see that hormones can affect a person's behavior and there is still more research to be done to determine which hormones can affect which behavior..
