  • Essay / Causes of Procrastination in College - 1645

Students aren't always in college for the right reasons. Some students don't even want to go to college. So they're in it for a number of other reasons. Some are there to impress their parents. Some are there to do the bare minimum to get a degree. Some students are only in it for the financial aid money. When this happens, there is a lack of motivation because they are in college for the wrong reasons. On the other hand, some students do not practice the profession of their choice. For example, if students come from a family with a long history of doctors, lawyers, teachers, or any other profession, they may be forced or expected to follow in their family's footsteps. This can make students very unhappy and unmotivated about what they are being taught. If students do not pursue a profession of their choice, they may not have an interest in learning. They will do the bare minimum to achieve a passing grade. Since students want to please others and not themselves, a lack of motivation may appear in all of their work. There is simply no enthusiasm or excitement to learn. This can cause students to procrastinate before handing in their work.
