In some countries, every young person must serve two years in the army. Is this a good idea? Should other countries follow this country's example? As we continue to face military conflicts around the world, some have proposed that the United States adopt a similar policy. I believe that a two-year national service commitment is completely unjustified. Every young person should be able to choose to do what they want to do. Think back to a time when you were 17 and 18, would you want someone to force you to go somewhere you didn't want to go. I believe that every young person should not serve two years in the army if they do not want to. I believe this because forcing people to do what they don't want to do will result in a sloppy military, it would be a violation of freedom, and some people are simply not fit for the military. One of the reasons the United States military is so powerful is because it is made up of volunteers. All the Marines fighting on the front lines for the United States are there because that's where they want to be, that's the decision. ...
