It allows young people to participate in programs, contribute to awareness, and create change for those less fortunate (Wingrove, 2010). The organization was started by Craig Kielburger in 1995, at the age of 12, with 11 classmates (Kielburger, 2006). Over the years, Free the Children has been responsible for the construction of more than 650 schools in more than 45 countries and raised $15,683,212 in Canada alone during the 2009 fiscal year (“Results and Impacts”). Craig Kielburger demonstrated extremely strong leadership qualities from a young age and continues to do so today. Along with his brother Marc Kielburger, he created a very strong set of principles that allow their organization to thrive. Craig Kielburger's strong leadership qualities drive him to fight for revolutionary change, which directly translates into Free the Children's organizational success, which is admired around the world. The great qualities that Craig demonstrates contribute to change and difference around the world. His drive and dominating attitude from a young age has grown into an organization that is changing lives around the world. As a leader, his appearance and ability to influence others and do whatever he can to be that helping soul demonstrates his selflessness and strong leadership skills (“Leadership Style”).
