The Middle Ages, also known as the Dark Ages, were a period in Europe after the fall of Rome in 476 A.D. BC until the 15th century, where the advance of modern society in Europe came to an abrupt halt. During this time, the feudal societal system emerged as the primary hierarchical system throughout Europe. However, this led to a great imbalance in power between the people and the government. The main factor of power and wealth in feudalism was land, kings and lords owned most of the land, while the people had none. During this time, people needed a hero to give everyone hope and help them through this dark time. It was then that the legend of Robin Hood was born. Robin Hood is about a talented archer who becomes rebellious. He steals from the rich and gives to the poor, accompanied by his band of merry companions. The struggle in the Middle Ages is what makes people (mainly peasants) want to believe the story of Robin Hood. The fall of Rome in 476 AD to a population in need of protection from invaders and attackers. It was a great struggle for many people, either finding protection, fighting for themselves, or being killed by invaders. In the legend of Robin Hood, Robin protected people with his archery master and supported them by giving them the money he stole from the rich. The fall of Rome also contributed to the lack of a central government, which led to the disorganization of much of daily life, since there was no clear set of rules or basic timetable for people to do what. Economic problems also arose following the fall of Rome, as established trading systems were forgotten since the government was not there to enforce them. At that time, it was truly difficult for people to lead a normal life, let alone survive. After that, the current government systems are middle of paper......to provide them with food and aid. Because even then, the church was starting to not let people near them for fear of catching the plague. The plague also led to the decline of the Church's power in medieval Europe, as people began to realize that even the Church was powerless against this epidemic. The Middle Ages in Europe were a frightening time for most people. It was filled with violence, death, disease, inequality and corruption of higher powers. Most people were left without any hope about life. Many thought that no one cared about them and that they were worthless. But the legend of Robin Hood gave hope to many people in a time of despair. Legends of Robin stealing from the rich and giving to the poor with his band of merry companions brought hope to many people's lives. That someone cares about them, and maybe their plight isn't so hopeless after all.
