Essay / Aspects of Racism - 2364
Today we live in a multicultural society, which means that a nation is made up of several ethnic groups, with different cultures. But why was there xenophobia and racial hatred between people and why do they still exist? What is really “foreign” and what effect does it have on youth and young adults? And the most important question is: what is racism? During my essay, I will examine these questions. First, I would like to define the term racism generally and talk about its characteristics: Racism is an ideology that uses real or fictitious differences between two ethnic groups for the benefit of the Prosecutor and to the detriment of the victims. Racism wants victims to attribute all kinds of bad properties, prove their negativity and at the same time show the positivism of the prosecutor. Racism is an absolute ideology, because it explains differences definitively and generally. For example, all people of color are forever inferior to the white population in terms of mental abilities. This attitude therefore always causes a hierarchy in society. It justifies and legitimizes an injustice towards the group of victims. There are several types of racism. Biological racism concerns, as its name suggests, biological differences (skin color, skull shape, etc.). A racist abuses biology to the point of devaluing his victims. Cultural racism uses cultural differences. It can be said that biological racism and psychological racism always occur in a combined form. This of course creates an absolute society. It should be noted that the term racism in the context of its definition is confusing and inaccurate, as it actually suggests that it is exclusively about the devaluation of another...... middle of paper ... ...s being able to live only in poor housing, a sort of ghetto formation would be inevitable, which is why the natives view foreigners as an even greater threat. Added to this social integration is the cultural imperative. Of course, one cannot achieve one without the other. Cultural integration is not the complete assimilation of immigrants but can be defined as the acceptance of cultural differences while agreeing on a common culture (common language, common education, etc.). At the end of my essay, I would like to mention that we should all fight against racism. By isolating one ethnic group from another, we prevent “fresh blood from flowing into it”. A process of degeneration is therefore inevitable. We must also fight against it, because racism is definitely against fundamental human rights and also constitutes a danger for all humanity.
