THE IMPORTANCE OF OBERON FOR THE PLOTIn the play, Oberon brings together all the characters from different worlds. This leads to complications and collisions that occur between different characters throughout the play. “Magic” has an effect on all complications and collisions. Magic is misused and then used to correct situations. At the beginning, there is drama between the young lovers, when Hermia loves Lysander, Lysander loves Hermia, Demetrius loves Hermia, Helen loves Demetrius, but no one loves Helen. Throughout this short and complicated “love story,” arguments and fights arise. The world of fairies then comes into contact with the world of young lovers. Mischievous Puck causes further complications when he uses magic to anoint the eyes of a young Athenian, who is in fact not the correct Athenian that Oberon assigned to Puck. Puck abuses magic when he plays a stupid prank on Bottom, who is one of the mechanics, by giving Bottom a donkey's head. Strangely, Titania falls in love with the creature created by Puck. This causes Oberon to become extremely angry....
