    First of all, I had to choose a speech full of various rhetorical devices. There is a huge difference between Chinese and English essays. The Chinese essay implicitly conveys the author's point of view. Elegant and beautiful words are prevalent in Chinese essays. Being limited by my level of English and my knowledge, I only read a few academic articles. These articles are specific to their academic focus. These articles usually have a fixed template and the words are boring. I spent almost four days thinking about how to come up with rhetorical devices. From what I know from my previous language learning, most of the rhetorical devices in the English version are unprofessional. Sometimes I even complain to the teacher that English lacks a beautiful language. I still remember that those four days were really a difficult time. Every day I woke up and sat in front of the laptop screen. Time soon passed. I didn't do anything at all. Even though I went through the entire article over and over again, I couldn't find anything worth analyzing. When I was almost desperate, I read a model essay whose author is a senior, I suddenly got inspiration. Next, I searched online for English rhetorical devices like metaphor. When I prepared adequate knowledge, I started writing and completed it in three hours at most. Thanks to the professor, Google and other sources, I realized that English rhetorical devices are quite different from those in Chinese. However, the goal is the same. They are widely used to add more interesting expressions in the essay. By metaphor, the author can describe an abstract thing in a concrete thing. Using parallelism sentences instead of normal sentences will effectively persuade the audience and increase credibility. Repeating information will help the audience understand better.
