Essay Title: Polar Bears Are EndangeredPolar bears are one of countless endangered species. They were one of the first animals affected by global warming and their population is in sharp decline. Around 1980, the Arctic covered 8 million square kilometers. As of 2011, studies show that the Arctic has shrunk in size to 4.5 million square kilometers. In the future, will there be anything like the Arctic? Scientists predict that by 2040, only a fringe of ice will remain in northeastern Canada and northern Greenland. This is called the last ice zone. This affair mainly occurs in Canada, since; Canada is home to more than half of the world's polar bear population. Other affected countries include the United States (Alaska), Greenland, Russia and Norway (Svalbard archipelago). There are solutions to slow global warming, but unless we all act together, there is no hope for the polar bears that live on Earth. CAUSES OF THE PROBLEMPolar bears are endangered animals due to the pollution of their environment by humans. Human hobbies like hunting are destroying the polar bear population. Some cultures consider polar bears a good source of food. But the main reason for the disappearance of polar bears is global warming. Global warming is destroying polar bear habitat. Global warming is caused by humans, but we are making no effort to do anything about it. Many humans still don't know what global warming is and should be aware of it. The main cause of global warming is man; we should solve this problem. The ringed seal is the polar bear's best food source. Reducing ice causes the seal population to decline and puts bears at risk of starvation.
