  • Essay / Football injuries - 2497

in a few games my freshman year of high school football, I was a running back, and there were a few times where you would get hit and you wouldn't remember the play. I thought I had a headache or something every other soccer player had during a game, but I learned to do it to keep playing. I loved the game. Why not keep playing? I would stagger up to the huddle and call out a play the team had never heard before, but I learned to fight and control it. That “it” could have been a concussion, but I’ll never know. Eventually, I would remember everything. Today, concussions are much more than an injury. It is the most dangerous injury in all sports. Concussions will affect you for the rest of your life and your brain will never be the same. Concussions bleed into the brain, and these bleeds into the brain can cause future problems later in the athlete's life. Many football players don't even think about the consequences of brain injuries before playing NFL games. Eventually, the players discover the consequences. As a result, many football players love the game but hate the results due to short-term memory loss, long-term brain problems, recurring concussions, and permanent brain damage. Brain injuries play a major role in football. It is one of the most talked about injuries in sports, especially football. Recurring concussions are also all too common and cause other problems for many athletes. These recurrent brain injuries must be taken care of from the first concussion. A concussion can be bleeding on the brain, a simple headache, or loss of consciousness when hit in the head. Coaches and medical professionals diagnose these brain injuries as loss...... middle of paper ...... permanent brain problems are not worth the risk of only playing football for 10 to 15 seasons . Terry Bradshaw said if he had known about all these studies on concussions and their consequences, he probably wouldn't have played as long as he did. Terry also told people that he would not have returned to games with a concussion if he had known about these studies. The consequences of head trauma are extreme things to deal with, and Terry would have thought about the results of the game before playing professional football if he had known the consequences of head trauma. He doesn't think he would have played professional football. If I were able to play at the highest level in all of football, I would consider every possible safety issue before playing in the NFL. Even playing high school football now, I will make sure to protect my head in every possible situation..
