Essay / Never Let Me Go, from Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Japan-born British novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro has a variety of different perspectives on many cultures, which he uses to interweave different cultural values and trends into his novels. It uses science fiction to present the possible futures that could arise in our civilizations in a tone that is strangely familiar and easily imagined. (Kazuo, British Council) Although incredibly diverse in his writing, he tends to craft narratives of semi-dystopian futures that show humanity's failure without neglecting to display the altruistic behaviors it can also do evidence. Kazuo himself has described his fascination with how trials and tribulations can test the very values and ideals of previously relatively harmless societies. His story can be used as a tool to demonstrate his observations regarding human nature and its natural exploitative practices such as socio-economic class.
