Essay / The Effects of Cybercrime - 1514
Today, with the advancement of technology and science, new concepts are being integrated into our lives. Cybercrime is one of those concepts that did not exist 15 or 20 years ago. In the past, we only talked about conventional crime, which refers to traditional, illegal behaviors that most people consider a crime. Today, we must be wary not only of conventional crime, but also of cybercrime, also known as "faceless crime", which is the latest and most complex problem of the new century. Cybercrime includes all criminal actions against communication devices in a network such as the Internet, telephone lines or the mobile network. Cybercrime can be seen among people of different age groups as it is easier to commit than other types of crimes like murder, kidnapping or human trafficking. WHAT IS CYBERCRIME? Much like traditional criminal activity, cybercrime can take many forms and occur virtually at any time. and anywhere. Criminals who commit cybercrimes use very different methods, depending on their capabilities and goals. This should come as no surprise to anyone, after all, cybercrime is just “criminal” activity with the addition of a computer or electronic network for its commission. According to Parthasarati Pati, we can divide cybercriminals into four groups. This division can be classified according to what they have in mind. The groups are: Children and adolescents aged 6 to 18; organized hackers, professional hackers, crackers and disgruntled employees. Cybercrimes can be divided into 11 groups and each of them is different. This is the unauthorized access to computer systems or networks or hacking, theft of information contained in electronic form,...... middle of paper ...... it is not possible to eliminate cybercrime from cyberspace. It is entirely possible to verify them. History shows that no legislation has succeeded in completely eliminating crime from the planet. The only possible measure is to make people aware of their rights and duties (reporting crimes as a collective duty towards society) and to make the application of laws stricter to combat delinquency. There is no doubt that this law constitutes a historic step in the cyber world. Furthermore, I do not all together deny that there is a need to make amendments to the Information Technology Act to make it more effective in combating cybercrime. I would like to conclude with a word of caution for the pro-legislation school: it should be kept in mind that the provisions of the cyber law are not so strict that they could stunt the growth of the industry and prove counterproductive..
